Interest Groups
ANF (Tas Branch) holds education sessions for all these Special Interest Groups throughout the year. ANF members are invited to attend these sessions which provide interesting information regarding topics specific to these areas. Look out for sessions on this website or in the ANF Professional Development calendar (a copy can be access on the education page).
Aged Care Special Interest Group
This group was originally formed in the late 1990s and has an active membership around the state which is divided into three regional groups: Southern, Northern and North-West. Membership to ACSIG is open to all Enrolled Nurses, Registered Nurses, and Student Nurses with an interest in Nursing in the Aged Care Sector.
Nurisng and Midwifery Student Society (NAMSS)
The ANF student membership is offered to all nursing students and provides insight into the issues faced by nurses on a daily basis, and offers support to ensure that students maximise their potential in the nursing profession.
Enrolled Nurses' Special Interest Group
This group was originally formed in 1980, and in 1995 when many ENs did the upgrade to Bachelor of Nursing, membership numbers dropped. The group has now reformed as the numbers of ENs now training has increased.
Nurse Managers Special Interest Group
This group was formed in 2003 after interest in a Statewide Level 3 Study Day for ANF members.
Rural and Remote Special Interest Group
This group was formed in 2003 after nurses and midwives working in remote areas requested a forum via which to stay in touch.
Immunisation Nurse Special Interest Group
This group was formed in 2007. The major goals of this group is to promote the role of nurse immunisers in Tasmania and to provide a forum for education, networking and sharing of ideas amongst nurse immunisers.
