Representation

All ANF members are represented and supported in the workplace. Representation for members includes the negotiation of workplace agreements, monitoring of classifications, meeting with Management, the Nursing Board of Tasmania or the Commission etc. ANF employs professional and industrial officers who monitor and protect the best interests of nursing. ANF members receive expert advice, assistance and representation.

Professional Indemnity/Public Liability Insurance

ANF members working full or part time enjoy the protection of 24 hour insurance coverage including $5 million protection for negligent act and cover for legal expenses. This protection is an essential service for any working nurse, and is included in the ANF membership. Employers do not automatically cover you if you are sued for negligence or malpractice.

Legal Services

The ANF's legal firm, Phillips Taglieri, helps ANF members with any non-nursing matters including conveyancing, wills and family law. For any non-work related matters, the first consultation is free of charge with further consultations at reduced rates. ANF Members also have access to the legal expertise of Phillips Taglieri for any work-related matters.

Journals

Members of the ANF receive two monthly journals - the 'Australian Nursing Journal', with national and international news, and the Tasmanian Branch newsletter 'lnfusion', with news, views and information on the latest issues concerning nurses in Tasmania. Both supply the latest developments in clinical, professional and industrial issues, locally, nationally and around the world. Members are also able to access the quarterly professional publication, the Australian Journal of Advanced Nursing online.

Education, Training and Conferences

The ANF Education and Training Unit offers specialist courses and seminars including professional development programs; personal skill training; enrolled nurse education; industrial relations training & short courses and workshops on a wide range of topics. Courses are advertised in Infusion, the ANF (Tas Branch) monthly newsletter and in the ANF Professional Development calendar and online through ANF’s Continuing Professional Development courses. Members receive big discounts on the cost of courses. We can also arrange seminars at your workplace.

Special Interest Groups

The ANF supports a comprehensive range of special interest groups and support groups, which provide nurses with an important forum to discuss issues relevant to their particular area of practice, including, Rural Remote, Immuniser Nurse, Enrolled Nurse and Aged Care Special Interest Groups. These groups play a key role in keeping members and the ANF informed and in contact.

Library and Resource Centre

Information is power! Our Resource Centre is a unique resource for studying, researching, personal interest or looking at ways to extend your career. Utilise and browse the wide variety of reference materials available.  The ANF Resource Centre is a non borrowing library, and available via appointment only.
